Breast reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is most often consequent on ablation of the breast, either partially (tumorectomy) or totally (mammectomy), in cases of malignant pathology.
Depending on the situation, reconstruction will make use of breast implants, lipostructure techniques (micro-graft of fat cells) or skin flaps.
The restoration of breast symmetry and the reconstruction of areola and nipple will be attended to at a later stage.
The aim of mammary reconstruction is to rehabilitate the breast’s social dimension, i.e. to restore the normal appearance of “décolleté” and recover a distinctly feminine silhouette.
